Lightweight

TechLive is a Cloud application. As long as you run Java on your machine and an up-to-date browser, you are ready to start solving your IT problem. Once you set up your session, you can quickly invite internal and/or external experts to join you. Instant gratification!

Persistent

Most IT problems aren't solved in an hour, in fact many they take days or weeks of intense effort and analysis. TechLive offers IT teams a persistent platform that lets them work as long as it takes to finish a project or solve a problem. TechLive not only saves all the raw data uploaded into the platform, but it saves all of the analysis and team interactions around that data. Chat logs, file bookmarks, screen shots, white boards, system diagrams, you name it, TechLive persistently stores it. This persistence not only allows new team members to quickly come up to speed, but it makes the interactions, analysis, and results of your current project available to help solve future issues.

Synchronous

The TechLive platform helps synchronize IT team interactions, starting with a common set of information and analysis and extending into a full suite of synchronous collaboration tools such as desktop sharing, window sharing, and flip board. TechLive's synchronous capabilities make the time distributed IT teams spend working together more productive and more enjoyable.

Asynchronous

In addition to enabling synchronous interactions, TechLive recognizes that not all efforts to solve IT problems can or even should be done together. TechLive's platform provides users with the flexibility to work on their own whether it's searching repository, analyzing logs, comparing code or sketching system diagrams. Multiple team members can work on a project at the same time without having to share or coordinate their work with others at that point in time. In addition, because TechLive is persistent, team members can log on and contribute to the solution when it's convenient for them reducing the need for everyone to be available at the exact same time.

Direct E-mail Uploads

Using your registered e-mail address you can e-mail files directly to your TechLive secure data repository. Just send the files to warroom@techlive.com and they will show up in your account. Better yet, if you put the Problem ID of your specific problem into the subject line, TechLive will automatically link the e-mailed files to that Problem ID.

File Upload tools

Use TechLive's unique data upload tool to directly upload files from your pc or server to TechLive. With just one click you can also easily copy and paste clipboard data into TechLive or use TechLive's instant screen capture tool.

Automated Data Capture Tools

TechLive has built tools to help you quickly and effectively capture important data from specific servers including:

MustCollect
MustCollect is an environment agnostic Collector designed to work tightly with TechLive. It is intended to be used for finding, packaging and transmitting all the log files, output files, relevant source code, configuration files etc. from a server environment, given some pre-defined directory paths. It makes collecting essential documentations for IT problem solving fast and convenient
RubyRun
RubyRun is a standalone (non-SaaS based) performance diagnostic solution for Ruby developers. It provides visibility into the behavior of a Ruby/Ruby-on-Rails application in an operating environment via selective instrumentation and optional tracing. It is used for deep diving into performance problems, diagnosing delay hotspots, detecting memory leaks, and tuning code path, including third-party non-homegrown packages. It can also be used for performance management, using various reports that break down throughput, volume, response time and its decomposition. And yes, we use our own product too. TechLive, being partly written in JRuby and Ruby, use RubyRun for performance management.
TechLive plans on releasing more data collection tools as well as APIs for fellow engineers to build their own data collection tools.

Secure Repository

TechLive's Data Repository stores all your files in one place secure and persistent and allowing accesses only from the permitted identities. Files can also be transmitted over SSL connections.

Code Optimized Indexing

TechLive's code-optimized indexing engine ensures that all files uploaded to TechLive can be searched for the kind of terms and characters that other indexers purposely ingore. Our indexer knows where every last number, semi-colon and period is.

Search

A code optmized indexer wouldn't be of much use without a search engine designed to take advantage of it. Techlive's search engine allows users to quickly pinpoint at line level where specific terms or characters appear, be they in code, log files or simple text.

Bookmarking

Users can easily append bookmarks to any point in a file. These bookmarks and their associated annotations are available to all team members and thus enable rapid navigation to problem code, error notices, or what have you.

File Differential Analysis

Techlive's file differential analysis makes it easy for users to compare two files and rapidly identify differences. Results from the analysis can be easily shared with everyone on the team.

Log Analysis

Techlive's log analysis features let users correlate log output from up to 3 logs at a time. The correlation engine charts the chronology of events such as "exceptions" happening across multiple components of the system during the same time period. Users can easily build their own templates using a dialogue based wizard and perform timestamp or event based correlations among heterogenous log files.

Data Analysis

TechLive plans to offer additional data analysis tools as well as APIs that will allow outside developers to build their own favorite analysis tools.

War Room

Why have just a conference room when you can have a War Room? TechLive's War Room brings together all of its key features in one real time virtual conference room that integrates all of the collection, analysis, and collaboration tools.

Agenda

With a roomful of techies the team can easily lose sense of direction and before you know it, many hours have already been wasted. TechLive allows dynamic setting of agenda, bringing in specfic problems and relevant support data into the war room step by step, thus constantly guiding and keeping track of the team's effort toward the given goals.

Chat

TechLive's chat room allows all team members to communicate in real time while they are working together to solve a problem. Chat transcripts are stored so they can be reviewed at a later date.

Flip Board

TechLive's flip board is no ordinary white board. Not only can team members work together on the flip board in real time, but team members can also work on different pages at the same time. What's more, TechLive's flip board allows team members to quickly sketch IT system diagrams, associate files with each component of that diagram for easy data collation (imagine when you have tons of files for one problem), and post analyses interactively in text and images for team viewing. All pages are saved into the team's secure data repository making it easy for team members to go back and review your work to date.

Desktop Sharing

TechLive's peer-to-many desktop sharing makes it easy for team members to share screens from PCs or servers so that the entire team can all view data, applications or problems on a specific machine at the same time. Any team member can share their screen at any time through a system coordinated locking system.

Window Sharing

Yes, TechLive does PowerPoint too. TechLive's peer-to-many window sharing is for those situations where a team member only wants to share the output from one specific window with the rest of team. Be it a PowerPoint presentation or a systems management console, TechLive can handle it.

Guided File Viewing

No need to wonder what line of code or what specific error code your team member is currently talking about. With TechLive's Guided File Viewing you can follow along with a team member as they wade through the nitty-gritty of big files. Everyone is literally on the same page.
